Incident energy, arc flash boundaries, PPE categories, and available fault current all come from an engineering study under IEEE 1584, performed by a qualified engineer. We engrave the values your engineer gives us, exactly as supplied. Every quote and order carries the line: all electrical values supplied by customer; vendor performs no engineering analysis.

Rowmark LaserMax two-ply engraving acrylic, 1/16 inch thick, engraved about .003 inches deep so the core color reads through the cap. It is UV stable and it is the standard material for panel nameplates and valve tags. Black with a white core is held in stock; white/black, red/white, blue/white and brushed silver/black are a special order, which adds a few days and the +10% non-stock charge.

No. Those are printed on different equipment with different substrate — it is a printing business, not an engraving one. Ask and we will point you at someone local who does them properly. The same goes for ASME A13.1 pipe markers, which are printed adhesive wraps. We do make the valve tags that go alongside them.

No. Raised characters and braille need different material and a different process, and getting it wrong means re-signing an entire building at your expense. It is real work and we are not the right shop for it.

That article requires field-applied hazard markings to be permanent, suited to the environment, and not handwritten. Engraved two-ply acrylic is the material the trade uses for exactly this reason — the text is cut into the material rather than printed on it, and it is UV stable. As always, your AHJ has the final say on what they will accept, and the edition of the code they enforce varies.

Yes, and it costs nothing. Ask for a sample kit and you get five engraved plates with your own company name and realistic text on them — a panel plate, a disconnect plate, a valve tag, a legend plate, and one with just your name. No obligation and you will not end up on a mailing list.

Yes, and we generate both from the same list so they cannot disagree. Send one spreadsheet, approve one document, and the tags and the chart are produced together. If you add valves later we reissue both so the sequence continues correctly.

That is exactly what the proof is for. We engrave what you approve, so read it carefully — but a proof has caught a wrong panel designation more than once, and it is free to fix at that stage. The first revision is always free; a second is $25.

Usually. Send a photo with something for scale, or mail us one, and we will match the size, colors, layout, and font as closely as the material allows. Consistency across a facility is worth a lot and mismatched replacements are a recurring annoyance for maintenance teams.

Both. Contractors and facilities order direct at the published prices. Electrical supply houses and resellers are quoted from a separate wholesale schedule off that list, so there is margin to mark it up at the counter. If that is you, ask for the wholesale sheet.
